Our process.
Our aim is to make building a fantastic website as simple as possible. Our 5 step process is how we make this happen.
Step one
Nice to met you! We’ll need you to fill out this form. Here you can let us know what the site’s purpose is, who the audience is, and when you’ll need the site published by. You can also let us know of any preferred colours and fonts, and provide us with the images, video and copy you need on your website.
Step two
We’ll get back to you within 7 working days with a site map (showing the structure of the pages and how they relate to one and other) and a design blueprint (the look and feel of pages, including fonts and colours) for you to provide feedback.
Step three
Once tweaked and approved, we will build your website using WordPress – the internet’s leading Content Management System for building websites. Find out more about what makes WordPress so great. This process takes 14 working days.
Step four
We’ll show you the site in staging mode (before it’s been published to the internet). Depending on what plan you have bought, you’ll be able to ask for tweaks across several rounds of revisions until you’ve got the website looking just how you’d like.
Step five
It’s showtime! We’ll publish your site live on the world wide web. Depending on what plan you’ve bought, you’ll have a website optimised for appearing as high as possible on search engines and that meets international accessibility guidelines. We’ll give you a round down of how to update your content and we also offer a post-launch support service too.
Frequently Asked Questions
We use WordPress. Why? WordPress is the most extensive and trusted content management system on the internet – over 40% of the web uses it.
WordPress allows us to create modern, stylish, accessible and responsive websites that can be easily and securely stored on web servers.
Unlike web-building sites that use free templates, in which design options, search engine optimisation and other website features are limited, WordPress enables us to create an infinite amount of customisable options for your website – ensuring it goes live just the way you want it.
All websites need somewhere to store all of the data. This is called a ‘host’. While you can use your computer to host a website, most people choose a hosting company for security and reliability. This is known as a ‘shared host’ because websites from around the world will be using the same provider.
When it comes to your website – you have two options:
1. Your first option is that we administer hosting for you and add the cost of this in your final invoice. We use Bluehost, specifically recommended by WordPress for hosting WordPress websites. Bluehost are a trusted host and host millions of websites.
2. Your second option is to manage all of the hosting yourself. Oh, get you! Once finished, we’ll send over the finished WordPress website to you for you to add it your hosting dashboard.
A domain name is what appears in the address bar of your browser to identify your website. You’ll need one so that users know where to find your content – it’s quite important!
We can purchase a domain name for you and add the cost to your final invoice. We use Bluehost for domain registration – they are a highly trusted provider and offer excellent value for money. We’ll let you know whether the domain you’d like is available and the cost before purchasing it.
Alternatively if you’ve purchased a domain name, we can either ‘transfer’ or ‘point’ this towards Bluehost or towards a host of your choice. We’ll discuss this with you.
Yes! Don’t worry – we won’t leave you in the dark.
Firstly, once your website is ready, we’ll show you how to manage and edit content on WordPress. This will include a rundown of how to access and edit your pages and how to add text, imagery and other elements.
For anything extra you need our support with, we can make revisions to your site for just £20 per hour. Find out more about our post-launch service.
